Jeanie Escalona

Jeanie is a native Austinite with a BBA and MPA from the University of Texas. She has worked as a CPA and office manager in various organizations around Austin. She lived in Venezuela for a year during college, learning fluent Spanish and a love for
Latin culture. She has taught children’s choirs at the First Baptist Church of Austin for 15 years and her love of children and music permeates everything she does. She has two grown children (including one of our art teachers) and one grandson, a Bronze
Doors Academy student. She is always ready with a smile to welcome students and parents and answer any questions (when in doubt, follow the musical laughter)!  More…

Nishi Andra

Nishi spent her adolescent years growing up in Brookline, MA after moving from India at the age of 11. She enjoyed all the differences between Hyderabad, where she was born, and Brookline: the snowy weather, wearing layers of clothes, the leaves changing colors and the tulips budding in the spring. However, after moving to Austin last year she has come to appreciate the benefits of warmer temperatures and lack of snow storms. More…

Zach Hurdle

Growing up in Dallas, I decided to stick around the area for college. With a full-ride academic scholarship to the University of Texas at Dallas, I took a wide variety of electives and cores to try and get a grasp on that ever-eluding question “what am I going to do with my life?” At 18 years old with no true direction I sampled various options: playing cello, art studio classes, sports writing, extra math classes, among others.  More…

Lucas Miller

Lucas Miller has been sharing his love of science and wildlife as the “singing zoologist” since graduating with a BA in zoology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, in 1991. With three books, a DVD, and around forty science-songs to his credit, Lucas’ unique blend of education and entertainment has touched the lives of millions of young members of the species Homo sapiens.  His CDs and DVD have all won Parents’ Choice awards and Lucas was even declared an “American Masterpiece artist” by the National Endowment for the Arts in 2008.  More…

Corinne Elysse Adams

Corinne Elysse Adams is a tumbleweeding poet, novelist, teacher, and general jack-of-all-trades. She graduated from Sophia University in Tokyo with a bachelor’s degree in humanities and Eastern religion, and received her master’s degree shortly thereafter from the University of Edinburgh, where she studied creative writing and took frequent breaks for tea and biscuits. Corinne has tutored students of all ages in both academic and creative writing, worked as an ESL instructor while living in Japan, and has taught creative writing classes for children in the Badgerdog summer writing program.  More…

Maggie Duval

Maggie is a gifted technology visionary and noeticist who offers rare insight into and understanding of current, evolving and emerging technologies. She has been an entrepreneur for well over two decades – enjoying a successful career as an independent technology, Web, marketing and creative business development consultant. Maggie began her technology career in 1989 at CompuCom Systems. She broadened her technical knowledge with Exemplar Logic, a technology leader in programmable logic synthesis as both Headquarters Sales Manager and Pacific Rim Distributor Liaison.  More…

Eddie Lehwald

A native of Baltimore, MD, Eddie has been passionate about music for literally as long as he can remember (his mother loves to recount the story of an underwear-clad Eddie marching into the dining room right around his 3rd birthday and demanding a piano) and is fortunate and excited to bring his knowledge and joy to Bronze Doors Academy this fall. Eddie has been performing professionally since he was fifteen, playing and touring throughout the US and Senegal, West Africa. He feels that music should be a part of everyone’s life, whether it be performing in public, playing for fun at home, or simply knowing enough to listen with a critical and engaged ear.  More…

Juliet Robb

Juliet grew up in Austin side by side with her five siblings. Since she could remember her sister, Madeleine, and her staged many dramatic one acts staring, Princess Jasmine, The Hunckback, Dumbo and their youngest sister Cecilia. While growing up Juliet performed in ballet recitals, Irish feises, and family puppet shows. For high school she attended Regents School of Austin where her work was recognized with the annual drama award. While at Regents she played many roles: Gertrude from Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Viola from Twelfth Night, Eurydice from Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice and many more. During the summers she spent her time either traveling to India or teaching at performing arts camps.  More…

Johnny Villarreal

Johnny Villarreal earned his BFA in Painting from Texas State University-San Marcos, and his AAS in Animation and Film from San Antonio College. He has been developing, touring, and leading workshops with his interactive media lab called The Edge of Imagination Station for the last two and a half years. Johnny has also taught summer camps at the Dougherty Art Center and the Salvage Vanguard Theater as well as an art based after school youth outreach program called Totally Cool, Totally Art. He served  as juror for VASE and Jr. VASE, installed art at venues in and around Austin as well as helped organize and participated in numerous Art and Music Festivals.  More…

College admissions:

Antonio Buehler

Raised in a single-parent household in an Eastern Pennsylvania coal mining town, Antonio Buehler was the first in his family to graduate from high school. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, and then, as a U.S. Army officer, Antonio completed six months of Airborne Ranger training where he honed the leadership skills and discipline that he had developed at West Point. In his first operational unit, he led the turnaround of two underperforming 27-soldier platoons in Kosovo and Germany.  More…
